In 1999, the state of Texas made it possible for non-profit electric cooperatives to put unclaimed member capital credit refunds to use for student scholarships. The amount of scholarship money available varies from year to year; this year, Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative will award $8,000 to deserving recipients.
